Lay two 12-foot long 2-by-4-inch boards parallel to each other on the floor, narrow side down and separated by 10 feet.
Cut 3 inches off of each of the 10-foot long 2-by-4-inch boards, so that the total length of each board is 117 inches, or 9 feet, 9 inches long.
Place the six 2-by-4-inch boards between the parallel boards, at right angles to them. Line up the board on the right side with the ends of the parallel boards and nail them together with 10d nails and a hammer.
Space the remaining boards at 16-inch intervals from the right edge. Nail the boards in place as you position them. Line the last board up even with the left ends of the parallel boards. You are now ready to position your stud wall in place.
