When building an outdoor storage shed, closing off an attic for storage or even building a tree house, you'll need a door. Rather than trying to find a prefabricated door that will fit to your particular project, you can build your own. This is a relatively simple project and only requires one sheet of 1/2 inch plywood and some hand tools. Once you have the tools and materials ready, building the plywood door is a snap.
Step 1
Measure the opening of the space you are installing the plywood door inside. Write down the width and height of the opening.

Step 2
Use a pencil and tape measure to mark cut lines on a sheet of plywood.
Step 3
Put on safety glasses and cut along the pencil line with a circular saw.
Step 4
Attach 120-grit sandpaper to an orbital sander and sand the entire plywood door.
Step 5
Brush on a coat of wood sealer over the plywood with a paintbrush and let dry. Paint the plywood door in a color of your liking, if desired and allow the paint to dry overnight.
Step 6
Fasten hinges to the plywood door with stainless steel screws and a screw gun about 6 inches from the top and bottom of the door. You should have at least two hinges but you may add a third spaced evenly between the top and bottom hinges.
Step 7
Fasten the door handles on both sides of the plywood door using stainless steel screws and a screw gun. Place one handle slightly above the halfway point on the door and the other slightly below the middle of the door so they are offset and the screws do not align on both sides.
