When doing a paint job, it is almost impossible to avoid getting primer and paint on your skin. While water-based primers and paints come off easily with soap and water, oil-based primers are more difficult to remove. Don't resort to using turpentine or paint thinner to remove oil-based primer from your skin. These harsh chemicals can damage your skin or cause a rash. Step 1

Spray cooking spray directly onto your skin where the primer is. Use a generous amount. If you don't have cooking spray, use vegetable oil.

Step 2

Rub the primer and cooking spray. The primer will appear to loosen and slide around on top of the skin.

Step 3

Rinse the primer off your skin under a faucet. Repeat this process if necessary. Wash the skin with soap to remove any cooking spray residue.
